I think that would be fine, 3000-3500ft and above would probably be where you'd see a noticeable difference.

How would a single do at around 900-1000ft?

I wouldn't tow with my truck at sea level. U less it was like a small enclosed for goose decoys or like a john boat. And thats with tow/haul having OD off at any threat of a hill. Its not where they perform well. Unless you run your truck at 2500 rpms all the time lol. Now maybe a 66 you could pull something light but with my 72 and 60% nozzles.... no go.

I love eriks truck and its a street beast. But actually PULLING a sled that truck would be in outlaw classes with 1200hp+ 75mm clipped wheel trucks, so you guys can make fun of singles up in the mountains all you want but they do perform. I love the guys that sit in the stands and talk **** though they always make me laugh lol

Yes they do perform. And they do well in sled pulling as long as they light, in which tims obviously didn't. But yes they do perform especially with good tuning to help them out. Sorry if it seemed like I was trying to be a d!ck, I wasn't going for that. But anyhow I guess I just wouldn't tow if I had a relatively large single.

Yeah they perform, even in high elevation when its sole purpose is to pull a sled 300+ feet. but pulling a trailer through some of the mountain passes is a different story. I like singles myself but if I was going to pull a lot, I wouldn't do it. especially if your goal is 700. you could make that on a drop in and tow all day long with no issues.

I think it's the elevation that kills the while thing... Some help me understand this...

Why do a single over say a 72. What advantage is there at all? I don't get it? I guess it depends on how big the build is

Not to muck up a tech thread, BUT. I find it fascinating that many, many people have added turbos to the older trucks for performance, and the folks that buy the trucks with the extra turbo already in there, proceed to put a single on it and loose the advantages so many before them have seeked. Ironic :lookaround:

Not bashing anyone for trying new stuff, just to be clear .

I did mine because I cracked the piston and I think its alot to do with stock compound drive pressure. And the price I got my single kit for was half of that of a wastegate setup and a drop in 72mm. Plus I love the sound of my single. That being said I loved how I could go from a 62, 64, 66, 67, 72, 75, 80 in about 10 minutes. The 71 and 72s are great options though withouy a doubt. And ive never had a reciever in my hitch lol

Its no secrete that a single will make more power than the same sized atmo in compounds. However there isba big trade off and when you are anything above 3000 feet it becomes more obvious than at sea level.

To ME for the mild hp I would never consider a single. Jd's truck is about the best Proof of that.

I ran a very streetable small single on my 6.4 with stock fueling at 4500ft, loved it for daily driving. With that said , towing would've been out of the question.

After driving a truck with mod stock turbos with a 72mm low pressure, I'd never go to a single at this elevation for any reason.

Ya after looking around the tow power plus seems to be the way to go. Between elevation and using the truck it appears to be almost the only way. Now for those of you like Dustin, that have had a lot of time in elevation, what nozzles can I get away with? Are the 85hp nozzles to much for that turbo set? Supporting fuel mods and tuning will be a big part but what is to much?
