Trans Tuning ??

Hey guys I have a question regarding trans tuning.

I have a 6.4 with the ORIGINAL XRT tuner... I run the Hot tune which is 120hp. The original XRT does not tune the transmission. For the most part my truck shifts fine except the occasional rev/slam which has gotten a little better since adding a quart of tranny fluid.

Anyway, I rode in a buddy's truck tonight he has a Mini Maxx and runs the HD 300 tune. His shifting was actually better than mine, and he probably has an additional 150 horse. He also has 50k miles where as I almost have 140k. Does the shifting feel better in his truck due to the trans tuning or what?

Thanks!

Alright good to know. Do you guys think it would be a bad idea for me to go with a mini maxx and run the 300 tune with my "high" mileage truck? I do not want to have to replace the tranny before 200k.... hopefully it will last longer than that. But keep in mind I am a 21 year old guy... I like to play haha.

its like everything else in life.

if you drive it like a old man, it will last forever.

if you drive it like a 21 year old lead foot, it will die yesterday. :D

for all intents and purposes, there is no more concrete answer that can be given.

eventually your trans is going to go, fk you. mod it, and it will happen faster.

Why not just get gauges since you already have the XRT and just run the higher tune or....Custom tunes? IMHO since you already have the XRT why not just update it?

As mentioned in my OP. I have the ORIGINAL XRT NOT THE PRO. I cannot run any tunes bigger than 120. It does not support trans tuning. They no longer make the original XRT.

We should be able to get you the special edition tunes

That would be great! I have read a lot of good things about KEM. I would love to be able to try out some KEM tunes! Do you recommend I call tomorrow? Or can I get what I need through you? (I assume you work for KEM?) I really appreciate the help.

I am surprised you guys are able to do tuning on the original XRT. I hope so at least, I have always felt like I was a little "ripped off" because a few months after I bought the XRT the XRT Pro was released. H&S claimed more tunes would become available well that was not the case... the XRT is obsolete.

send patrickke your name, address, and phone number in a pm, along with what your after. just tunes, or is there other things you might want him to price check for you. exhaust, egr, injectors, etc etc. he'll get you set up.

he'll call you. is what he did with me. he will go over the ins and outs of what they have, and when your done talking to him, you will be able to make a informed decision on whether or not you want to try with KEM.

he's one of the few sales guys, that didnt leave me feeling like he was a sales man. he talks to you like a friend your shooting the chit with.

Calling me is fine along with calling Mike (or emailing him) just let me know which route you feel more comfortable with
