So I'm kicking around the idea of tearing into my tranny. But not really sure what needs to be done....is it just billet shafts, clutches and tq converter? Or is there some secret stuff that needs to be done like drilling or machining a hole here and there...and I'd be better off just buying a built trans? I tear into outdrives and zf trannys all day at work so im pretty confident in doing the work.

I'm sure you can hot up elite or any of the peeps that build trannies for a kit that you can do yourself

I think by specifying your goal for your truck will help better determine if you want a built trans vs. rebuild kit. Me personally id just get a built one and call it a day.

I have a thread or two with a lot of this info. My friend/mechanic is building my trans. Right now all im putting in it is a TCS hd shaft, which is what elite uses for their "HD" shaft. An Elite comp kit, and a transgo shift kit. Already have an RCD converter. I also ordered this sweet Trans manual on the TCS site. I wont be putting any other billet stuff in unless something pulled out seems worn.

Let me see if I can link the thread with the info. The only trans with anything "special" machined is elites "stage 5".

He just made over 800 on da juice and 611 on fuel, he'll need a new one for sure

LOL I'm not gonna be juicing stop light to stop ligjt. I plan on doing bigger turbos once I get some cash or the ones I got take a dump. So prob set a goal for 700ish on fuel eventually.

I would do elite stg 3, which i believe comes with all Billet internals (Input, Low Reverse, Planetary, and Intermediate shaft)

You're definitely going to need a good tranny. My stocker went after 60k+, I was tuned for 50k or so of those miles.
Got a new one from elite and lasted a good bit till the shaft decided it didn't like me (no traction bars was most likely the problem ). I guess I was around 650 or so? It had a lot of towing miles on it, even with the HP turbos

700 on fuel but how much on the NOS?

Let's try that 800hp out on the way to the river when we go.
