Turbo.. Build one V. Buy 1

Wondering if it is just simply a smarter, better investment in buying an upgraded turbo or trying to assemble one. By assemble i mean larger housing upgraded compressor wheel blah blah blah. Or am i being nieve and its smarter to just purchase a 38r??

quick,simple,effective. 38r ftw.

dont make things hard,keep it simple. you will be much better off.

Understandable. Was just trying to be cost effective. Which it seems like if i try buying and upgrading one might end up costing me more in the end.

The 38R is a great drop in turbo for the 99.5-03 trucks! I have never had one come back with an issue! Its a great reliable turbo!

Kinda leaving that as an open question since you never listed what injectors you want to run & HP goals.

FWIW I went the build route and it was $800 to build a copy of a d66. Biggest thing is the warranty. If mine was to blow up it's my fault, I can't call beans complaining. To most is worth having a warranty, this is one of the few times I didn't go with someone because of their warranty.

I figure I need to commit to a certain injector that I want to upgrade to and make sure that the turbo i get compares. Been hearing a lot about hybrids, so I am starting to do my research on those.

A hybrid is a good injector, just make sure you talk to a builder before you make a decision to find out what is needed to run them to their potential.

I definitely will considering i really have NO idea about injectors...or much about any upgraded diesel parts lol. I am very new to the diesel world
