What is the true difference between a S372 and an S472? Specs are 72/83 .90 on both. What's the difference?

The 372 you are looking at is probably a Bullseye power turbo. It's actually a 472, they just call it a 372 when it is a T4 flange for some strange reason.

With the small cover would it mount the same as a s300 series turbo?

8" cover 4" inlet and 3" outlet.

The BorgWarner Airwerks S400SX3-72 and 71 are referrend to as a S372 or S371 often, but they are actually a S400 series turbo.

Here are the dimensions.
