Hey guys. I have a noise coming from my truck that i was quite familiar with in my 6.0. Its a higher pitch buzz/wine. Sounds like my wheels in the turbos hitting the housings. Im really hoping its not the elite atmo i put in on memorial weekend. How many hp turbos have you seen go bad or vice versa lp? Im getting real sick of this truck!

Location
The great white north
They just work there way loose. I found if the ford torque sequence isn't followed this usually happens. Also if the manifold or head isn't perfectly flat they come loose.

Well its all fixed. Drove great to work today. I followed the torque sequence back when i built the motor but without factory bolts. Think thats my problem. Anyone use the arp studs for these. There 90 bucks but it might be worth it

I permanently solved that problem with stainless bolts and stainless split lock washers and anti-sieze to allow easy service.

Next step up would be bolts with a serrated made-on washer on the head.

Next step up would be studs with nut and split washer.

Next step up would be studs with made on serrated washer on the nut.

I never made it past the first step and it was cured. That's been 4 or 5 years ago after loosing or actually breaking that bolt 2 or 3 times on my 7.3.

Get some stainless lock washers (so they will withstand the heat and not loose their "spring") and the torque sequence, flatness and all else won't matter...

The damn things will just stay put, period.

Oh.... and you should also consider a hot retorque, as you will find that nearly all bolts will be just over finger tight once at temp. That is about 95% of the problem right there. Torquing it down cold, then once it's hot they're loose.
