Alright fellas, first time diesel owner here looking for some advice. I have an 08 6.4 RCLB with manual trans bone stock with 82k miles. I've done a lot of searching/reading about performance mods in recent days and my mind is overloaded ha. This is so new to me and I don't know anyone with one of these trucks so I need some help.

I read in the sticky that 400-500whp while staying reliable could be achieved by exhaust, tuner and cold air.

That is what I'm looking for. I don't have any real interest in building a motor or getting bigger turbos etc. just some quick bolt on power.

All that said I have 2 of those parts that I'm pretty well set on getting. 1. 5" flo-pro downpipe back exhaust(no muffler) and the s&b cold air.

What's got me torn is the tuner. I know I don't want a simple six position chip. I like the all in one units. However, I know I don't want to spend $1500 or more on one. Especially since I really don't care to make more than 500-550hp.

I've been looking at the Bullydog Triple dog GT. Thoughts? Is that all I really need in a tuner?

Sorry for the book. Just trying to get my feet wet in the diesel game. I've got a lot of learning to do.

All suggestions welcome!
Thanks guys.

Apparently you haven't read too much. A bully dog won't allow you to delete any of the emissions equipment. That being said your cheapest option will be an sct 3015 with custom delete files from Rudy's or any of the other sponsors.

I'd also suggest a no limit intake. Biggest and best available on the market.

Do an EGR delete while your at it.

Contact BIGRPOWR on here and he can hook you up with everything you need.

You will need a DPF delete tuner the bully dog will not work with a DPF delete if you don't want to spend 1500+ on a tuner (ex H&S minimaxx) you should look at this http://nolimitfabrication.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=93&product_id=105

This will also bring you to 500-550 HP and will work with the exhaust (DPF delete) without breaking the bank and yes all you need is a DPF delete exhaust CAI and tuner to get you to the 500-550 HP range. I would do a EGR delete while you at it.

EDIT I would also recommend a no limit CAI also biggest/best CAI on the market for the 6.4

read my post above.

Gotcha. I read yours as well, meant to multi-quote both posts. Good input thanks. Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks both of you.

Now since you both suggested no limits CAI let me ask this. Why an open air CAI vs one that is boxed? Better flow I'm assuming?

better flow. You can also put a pre filter over the filter if your are in dusty/dirty conditions.

Gotcha. Also, in regards to the SCT suggestion. Is that comparable or the same as the SCT 5015 live wire TS just in a different unit? I realize the live wire is a bit more expensive.

Either H&s or SCT is the way to go. Just make sure they are off road / race tuners. Also depending on your driving habits start to save to do head studs. I'm not sure but maybe someone will chime in, I'm not sure how the clutch holds up to the power, it could slip and you might need a better one

Manual trans and I don't beat on my stuff like a 16 yr old lol However I know clutch would be one of the first things to go.

I have a 6 speed and my stock clutch would only handle a 160 horse file. So keep that in mind.

Good to know

Here's some required reading on intakes. This is why the no limits is the ONLY choice for these trucks. By the way i had a s&b first and quickly sold it for a no limits.
