Would somthing like this work. My idea is to run 2 wastegates off of the up pipes. A 50mm to feed the atmosphere turbo and a 40mm to keep overall backpressure in check. Also I was thinking if I keep the pipes divided until the gate I won't defeat the purpose of the divided housing on my high pressure turbo. I hope the attached drawing helps. The placement of the gates is not actual I would like to have them in between the HP turbo and firewall.

GT4088R High pressure with a High Power atmosphere. The atmo will have the .96 a/r exhaust housing rather than the .81 a/r housing that comes standard with the High Power's .

Two guy's here run dual gates on their dmax's with BB twin setup's; one on the HP charger pedestal that is fed by the engine side and dumps into the mid (hot pipe feeding the big charger)pipe. The gate for the LP charger is fed by the mid pipe pressure and actually mounts to the down pipe where it dumps (insurance if mid pipe pressure get's above desired psi). Extra insurance from what I can see from a dual gate setup which I'm assuming is what your going for.

Just me but that won't do anything. 1 gate will open and start relieving pressure so the other gate will never open. They need to be as described above. 1 on up pipes and 1 in intermediate pipe. Here's how mine are. Yours will be very tight though being both valley mounted.

My thought was the 50mm gate would open at around 35-40psi and the 40mm gate would not open until around 80psi.The 40mm gate would be there only to limit overall back pressure at the motor.

Heres another example. Two 40mm gates relieving pressure to the atmosphere. Then one 50mm gate that relieves overall pressure to the downpipe. The 50mm may never even open, it was just a precaution and for if I run spray.

That's what I was kinda thinking. I'm only going to run 60% nozzles not 100's like you guys. The only difference in the way I have it drawn is the second gate is relieving the pressure at the source instead of in between stages where the exhaust has to pass through the HP turbo and a different wastegate prior to being relieved and sent to the down pipe.

You can do this. But the 2nd gate that your drawing from the source and just dumping to the exhaust or atmosphere is just wasting energy. People bypass the stock turbos entirely but only because there is no way to dump it into the atmosphere and its soley to relieve back pressure. My 50mm gate is not only to relieve back pressure, but if I need to limit boost as well. If I can clean up fuel on a given tune at 60 psi, there is no reason to make 80 psi.

Id say of you are concerned, at least run a gate that is plumbed into both up pipes to bypass the small turbo and dump into the larger one. You may not even need to bypass both unless you spray, and that really depends on how big of a jet you use. The gate that dumps the exhaust out of the system should really be in between stages.

I'm so lost in this talk of wastegates. I'm sure I don't need one with my mods. But reading here leaves me to wonder when I need to start looking into one.

When you decide to get twin pumps and injector nozzles. Large turbos alone with stock fuel probably wouldnt drive the tutbos hard enough to need a gate to keep back pressure in check. People thought they needed gates a few years ago with stock turbos, but its been proven that its not the case. Also, modern tuning has decreased back pressure with the vgt as compared to 3 years ago
