I just did my EBPV delete with a new non ebpv pedestal, exhaust outlet and o rings from Clay. I had to pull the turbo twice because the y collector didn't line up the first time and I was only getting 6 lbs of boost with no real power. I noticed that once I got everything back together I have a really strange sound when I go WOT I get a really loud siren type whine. I've tried to search through Google but haven't found much. I'm building about 16 lbs of boost now, I was only building about 13 before and I know I have an up pipe leak but just can't do the IH bellowed right now. EGT have dropped about 100* since the mod. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this siren?

I'm pretty sure it's fine, I used new o rings and it sealed up good. There was plenty of oil when I pulled the turbo the second time and I didn't pull the pedestal then. It doesn't make the noise unless I go WOT.

im no expert on turbo's but it could just be that you could be overspooling the turbo.

with only 16 lb id say you have a loose clamp or a ripped boot some where....
I've never heard of a stock 7.3 over spooling. It seems to be building boost at a normal rate, how would you check for over spooling?
I've checked all of the boots and they're all good. I know the v clamps are all torqued to spec. The only clamps it could be is on the boots because I didn't know what the torque spec was for them, just looked it up and saw it was 71in/lbs I'll check them out in the morning. I also have an up pipe leak so that accounts for some of the lost boost.

OP, everything that you describe as sudden noise is not normal with the work you've done. Right now, I'd be checking my work as much as possible.
I agree that 16 lbs for a stock SD is very low. What about the wastegate connections? Is one of those small nylon lines disconnected or broken? Pressurized air blowing through a small hole could whistle.

While waiting to afford bellowed up pipes, get some old chevy V* exhaust donuts. Throw some anti seize on them and install them as up pipe donuts. Get the cheap crushable ones, not the good hard ones.
I checked the boots torqued the boots this morning before work and one clamp was barely tight, I guess I must have overlooked it, the siren sound is gone but I'm still building 16 lbs of boost. I decided to just buy the Dorman up pipes and some new boots just in case there might be a pinhole in one of them.

For less than the price of boots, you can build a tool to pressurize the intake system and check for leaks. Costs about ten to fifteen bucks to build the tool. Pays for itself very quickly. Will not detect up pipe leaks though.
Thanks for the info! I've heard about the pressure tester, I'll make one up and check for leaks before I put in my order for boots.
I built a pressure tester today and I can't find any leaks on the boots or turbo housing. I'm guessing the only leak I have is from the up pipes? I found a Dorman kit that was in stock at O'reillys and ended up getting 20% off because someone ordered it a couple months ago but never picked it up.
