Been hearing about a bad batch of mishimoto's I would steer clear of them right now. There is a guy on powerstroke.org that is on his 3rd one. And a couple other posts about others leaking I believe

Thanks for the posts guys. I will do my best to clear up any confusion. There are no QC issues at this time. We have sold well over 500 radiators with only but a few being claimed for issues. As you are aware, the stock set is prone to failure. This can be a result of poor craftsmanship, or excessive pressure reaching the radiator. Ford has release numerous TSBs about the issues that can cause coolant system over pressure. If the TSBs are not taken care of, the customer might have the same issues.

we just put in a 2nd mishimoto radiator in a customers truck 2 weeks ago...and stopped by the shop yesterday with leaks again. Coming back to the shop tomorrow to tear the truck down a little bit see if we can see where the leak is from. All the hoses and plugs were dry all the way around on both radiators.

Last one was leaking on the passenger side, this one is leaking on the driver side.

As always, we are willing to stand by our product and have a replacement sent out as soon as possible if there is any issue with it. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected] to have this processed.

Although the radiators are made overseas, this has nothing to do with QC. All products are personally checked by the Mishimoto-staffed QC team. Yes, we have a complete office set up overseas to make sure we do not have issues with this sort of thing.

Thanks,
-Pat

I'm going to switch to Evans waterless coolant. Aside from the other benefits, I figure if the system never has pressure in it then I'll never blow out my rad..

Cracked heads or leaky head gaskets will allow compression in to the cooling system.

The price of the Evans coolant isn't bad compared to replacing front covers and radiators lol

Oh I knew both of those could cause pressure Into the system. I thought maybe there was something else with these 6.4s I was unaware of. I know I have heard something regarding cavitation and a coolant system filter or something like that

Generally if I am goin to crank my truck up and drive it. It entails a 400 mile 7hr drive to go home. Otherwise it sits in place and I use my company truck to go everywhere

Cavitation is a problem and it happens right behind the water pump which wears a hole in the aluminum front cover causing coolant to dump in to your engine oil. Its a450 dollar cover and a big job to change it. The Evans coolant stops this from happening. I also run the sinister coolant filter kit.

From what I read cavitation was a problem running the rpms upwards of 2000 or more

I have to say they certainly do stand behind the warranty, they sent me a replacement last time pretty quickly, replacing the part isn't the issue, Guys will be into this truck shortly, so il have a little more after they do.

One of the lower fins again? What is the price tag on these aluminum units. I'm sure they're close in cost.

leaking from what looks like the weld on this one, the first replacement it was leaking from the fins on the passenger side.
