Why did my valve hit my piston?

Negative this wasn't on my personal truck, this truck does sled pull tho.

I had planned to go with IH coated pistons, did that one leave any clues as to what might have been the cause?

So if ford pistons crack randomly without warning, and IH pistons crack randomly without warning, am I gaining anything by spending the coin on new pistons? Serious question.

Ok, just want to make sure. I heard about Kind's truck and Weekendwarrior's truck. But maybe those were extreme cases.

Does anyone know of a good resource for engine specs? Head thickness, bore tolerance, etc? Is there a book I can buy?

Ford workshop manual has all the specs in it.

I'll probably get laughed at for this, but the whole reason I still buy Chilton's/Haynes manuals are for those types of specs. Even with all the Ford Workshop manuals and Alldat and things, those books seem to always have what I need.

At least will have the clearance specs
