Both trucks are automatic, cab/chassis.
I know the converters are different. Can I just get a new converter for an 08 and put it in the 06 trans?

also make sure that 08 has the remote filter because the 06 won't have the in pan style like the late 08's

If I'm not mistaken the flex plates are the same as bolt patterns they may be balanced different weights.
The converters are different why?
The 08-10 5r110 has a deeper pan

I half to say the external filter was a piss poor design.

the pan isn't really much deeper other than the pocket needed for the new style filter

I don't think they have a different balance, but that really wasn't my area.

I don't think they are different. It could be, I was already gone from Ford when the '08 came out.

Only a little bit, to clear the larger filter.

I half to say the external filter was a piss poor design.
Why? I have no equity in it, that wasn't my area, either. :redspotdance:

on the flip side
5r's with the external filter weren't plagued with filtration issues

but I went with the inpan filter myself LOL

Like above yes it will. Id change the converter before flex plate. The 08 has a paper filter in the pan instead of a screen type filter. 08s also have a 5 gear od planetary compared to the 06 4 gear. This also changes tooth and spline count throughout the od set so everything from the planetary to the intermediate need to be changed. Its not needed to work but def stronger than the 4 gear. Ask me how i know lol
