Wiring Help Needed - Bought truck & removed Viper Alarm, no Turns, Hazards, or Brakel

I've been lurking around for a bit, using this sight to give me a bit of insight before buying a truck...great info to be read here. :toast:

So long story short...bought a truck (99.5' F-350, 7.3L, ZF-6, 4x4, 120k on the clock), but being so worried about looking over everything else...I didn't realize until after I bought it from the dealer a few things were wrong. I knew the turn signals weren't working but figured that was an easy fix, but come to also find out later none of the rear brake lights (except the upper middle cab light) or hazards work. When you move the multi-function switch up or down to signal the flashers, nothing happens...no clicking sounds, no blinking dash lights...nothing.

So the previous owner had a Viper Alarm system (the 350plus model) installed, and upon further looking (removed the lower driver's dash panel), it seems parts were no longer hooked up or spliced in anymore (which also explained what I believe to be a battery draw). Looked at a wiring diagram for the Viper system, but that really didn't help all that much since I didn't have a cross reference to where that corresponding wire & wire color was on the F-350.

When you would hit the unlock or lock button on the remote, the rear brake lights as well as turn signals would flash, but the doors wouldn't unlock/lock. I went ahead and removed the system yesterday as well as I could, but still no turns, hazards, or brake lights.

I've attached a picture of some wiring that was cut, in hopes that some might recognize it.

So the wires are (in case its hard to tell from the photo) Light Green, Blue, White & Red. They feed up into a connector thats to the upper right-ish of the "gas"-pedal. The connector has a tag on it that reads (you can somewhat read it in the picture) that says "Connect To Instrument Panel." As well there's a brown wire that you can somewhat see that is part of that connector as well that is currently spliced into a light blue/yellow wire i'm trying to trace.

Normally I would look through a wiring diagram to try and figure out where isn't getting power, buuuuuut I don't have any. I looked at buying a factory service manual on ebay...but I'm kind of worried their essentially just going to send me the equivalent of a Haynes manual which won't do me a *whole* lot of good...or at least ones in the past haven't.

As well...should I supect the multi-function switch (since they're prone to going out on my year), flasher relay, etc?

Really trying/wanting to get this solved so I can actually drive my truck and enjoy it...because unfortunately until this gets resolved it gets to sit in the driveway. :cursing:

Did you call dealer and let them know? Not sure how it is in your state, but in Oregon all of that stuff has to be working.(I never knew this till I looked it up)

"Oregon law requires that all safety equipment must work on cars that are being sold by either a car dealer or private party. All lights, brakes, safety belts, windshield wipers, and horns must function properly and all windows must be without cracks. (ORS 815.075)"

So, after conferring with some people on another forum I frequent...those appear to be the trailer brake wires.

With that said...I wouldn't think that should have any effect on my turn signals and brakes would it?

If my multi-function switch were bad...I also wouldn't think that to effect my brake lights?

If need be I'll trace the brake light wiring all the way from the brake lights themselves upstream to try and find the problem...though I would really rather not.

As far as the dealer thing goes...not sure about my state (Colorado), but not much he's going to do now.

Looks like I might have fouond someone with the entire FSM in PDF form he's willing to send me. But even then tracing through all that might not solve things...

That is positively trailer brake wiring...

Didn't read your whole post, just skimmed because of the length, but verify your multifunction switch is plugged in, I had problems related to yours and the problem was a broken connector tab at the multifunction switch...

Just read some more, if the keyless entry still isn't working, they probably hacked the alarm in, the wires are located in a bundle above the e-brake and clutch area. Should be a simple color to color hookup for repair. Look for two relays spliced into the factory harness, or signs of where the used to be spliced...or that remote isn't programmed to the truck. A simple Google search will give you instructions on how to program the remote

i'm going to bump this thread here because i'm having the same sort of issue. Truck went into the dealer last week because my door lock switches inside werent functioning. dealer was on the phone with ford for 3 hours traced the issue back to my remote start that doesnt function anymore. cut the lock wire, replaced the smart junction box for the second time in six months, and the door lock modules and were good to go. everythign was fine for a few days.. now i lost all right turn signals. left works, hazards work. but right doesnt. no blinking in the dash no sounds nothing. i checked the fuse, its fine. they worked intermitienly yesterday morning, no nothing again. I was planning on driving this to pa in 4 days, but i think ill be taking the ranger instead. also, the remote start will be getting removed to hopefully stop having these issues.

the remote start doesnt work, and hasnt worked since the smart junction box was replaced once and the dealer tried to repin it. pretty much killed the system and it's leading to these issues. I'm thinking that its causing my issues with my directionals.

any thoughts?

If its not working why not take it out. Then splice all the original wiring back together as was said matching color.
