I have a 2003 F250 7.3 that has starting shutting off while driving. It will usually start up after a few minutes but this last time it didn’t. I replace the CPS and it started up and ran fine for a while but shut off again. A friend who owned a 2000 model shared that he had an issue with the filter in the tank. He shared there is a hose at the bottom of the sending into that came loose and was floating around in the tank. Any thoughts on this issues or what other issues would cause the truck to shut off??

Would appreciate any advice!!

Gonna need to get a log of what is happening. Youll need to pull up icp pressure, rpm, ipr, and fuel pulse width. Also if you can hook a fuel pressure gauge to it, that will test another system. Get a log of it stalling with all those pids, and it’ll be easier to help you. It could be one of 10 things currently, it sounds to me like it’s icp related from your description, probably an ipr, but who knows.

Something like forscan or if you know someone with a good scan tool to get the logs with.

If the tank pickup has never been modified, fuel starvation is a distinct possibility.
If you have the time and inclination, you could drop the tank and rule that problem out. Search "hutch mod " for a simple description.
Otherwise, do some logging as suggested.
