I appreciate all the input and opinions. I am going to buy the truck as long as it hasn't sold before I can get to it. It's honestly one of the cleanest looking, in pictures, trucks I've seen. I don't plan on drag racing it and as far as towing goes, I'm not worried about that either. I never pull anything heavier than another junk pickup home on a car hauler trailer. Getting a better clutch is no problem. I just hope I can get this deal closed!

I love standard transmissions, but I couldn't pay a premium for a vehicle with a manual trans when the automatic offering in the same truck is superior to the manual

I guess like everything. That is a COMPLETE matter of opinion. I have sold hundreds of manual trans trucks and, in my area, get considerable more money for a manual trans truck.

Daily driving in a city might not be as easy, but in a lot of applications the manual is superior. IMO. :ford:

my point exactly... a manual truck will usually fetch more money than an auto, but in a 6.0 truck, I contend that the auto is the more capable/economical choice. the standard is a novelty

now, in a Dodge where the auto is junk and the manual can hold a decent amount of power? ok

but when the auto is stronger, cheaper, and works really well? makes no sense to me to pay more for a standard

You can find ZF trucks all over Alabama for some reason. Bought my old 2000 model with a ZF in Cullman.

ZF6 here as well....love it, once in a while it'd be nice to have an auto when in traffic and the city but other than that it's great. Hope you make the deal on that truck!

BTW, (not trying to derail here), what's everyone on here with the ZF6 have for axle ratios? I've got 3.73's and its great on the highway, little difficult getting going while towing with the 35's though

tuned my truck is fine with getting weight rolling, stock tune... granny gear will do it just one extra step. but that's 33's and 373's. and i only had to put it all the way back to stock because it was a effin blizzard and it would brake all 4 loose trying to keep it in the power going up hill.

Same here. I don't have a lot of time behind a ZF6, but when on a stock tune, I used the granny gear to take off uphill. With a little tune, 1st will pull off by itself uphill without fuel. (Empty)

3.73's here rolling on 315/70r17 and works great. Although when I finally get around to putting bigger tires on it that may change hahaha

What are u towing?? I pulled a 32' 5er with with my 06. 3:73 on 35's and never used low unless it was going up hill from a dead stop.

This thread is making me wish I hadn't traded that 04 in. Don't get me wrong I love my 05, and the CC would be hard to give up, but some days I just miss shifting my own gears.

I almost bought an buddys stock 05 with a ZF6 and a 4'' straight pipe, but i bought a new quad and a Nice cheap IDI instead. Couldnt get enough of that 6 liter bark at 2200 rpm and on. Hell i even took off in 2nd gear with no problems. 6 liter will be my next truck though, 4 out 5 of my diesels have been stick cant beat them.

My 07 is a ZF6, it's why I bought it originally. You'll need a stronger clutch for sure, and they wont win any speed shifting competitions, keep in mind a SB single is 120# or so between the PP, clutch, and flywheel, that's a lot of weight to slow down between shifts. All in all, it is fun being able to row your own gears. I'm actually selling my dually. If the one you're interested in doesn't work out, let me know. It's not the cleanest, but it runs good and has a ton of parts on it to make a nice towing package.

yeah i wish i had an 05+ stick, the turning radius on my cclb is ridiculous. and also i ponder what driving a decently built auto would be like. just wonders, i havent owned an auto vehicle since my first car, a sweet 87 ford escort!
