Ok so think I finally got my truck ready to go again after new injectors new valve cover gasket and unch. Get valve covers painted and back on then notice some oil on the rod for the exhaust valve then pull down pipe and notice oil in it. So pulling turbo.
But is this something I can fix on a 38r or do I need a new turbo now?

There was oil on the rod that connects to the exhaust side of the turbo for high idle that's closes the exhaust off most the way. so after I noticed that I pulled the dp off and there's oil in the dp too.

That actuator has absolutely nothing to do with high idle. Its the actuator for the back pressure valve. Why you have it is totally beyond me.

Id delete that Em Eff...one less oil leak to check on.

That would be most likely where the oil came from.

:whs: when i did my injectors the oil that ran into the cylinders did the same thing. Exhaust smelled horrible til it was burned out. Maybe like a 100 miles or so.

I would give it a hell ride to clear it out may just be oil from doing injectors.

Ok thank you guys I'd never heard that so I figured my turbo was gone. What a relief!
If I delete the back pressure valve what all has to be changed out? I'm not sure I have the money to do it right now.

All you need is 2 freeze plugs. I'm not sure of the size, but 18 or 20mm seem to ring a bell. Press or cut the valve out, press the freeze plugs back in the top and bottom holes and you're good to go.

You can cut the butterfly out and then use the leftover pieces of rod to plug the holes. I just laid them in and welded them up.

Would a ford dealer have the turbo/pedestal Orings? So I don't have to wait for someone to ship them sense the trubo is half way off.

They should. But you'll probably have to order them.

The pieces I referenced will come right out after you cut the butterfly out.

Yup, just press them in. Once the valve and shaft is out, you'll see what needs to be done. Grind off the rivets for the valve, remove it and press the shaft out.

BTW, I like the weld in stub idea..
