Is HPFP leak into motor possible

Anything over 10 PSI on the low side seems to damage the seals on the HPFP. Chances are thats probably where your leak is happening.

Downfall I see if only running one belt driven pump, if the belt lets go you're dead in the water. At least the other way, you'll only loose the alternator/ P/S.

how does where the pump mounts save the motor

only reason to do the relocation would be to make the pump swap a cab on repair.

It won't be dumping fuel into the motor and if it leaks you will notice a lot easier
