Yep, sounds like the OD clutch is burnt. 4th gear and 5th gear both use that clutch. As well, 5th gear usually seems to be the next one to go. At the upper 600hp level you are at it's nothing out of the ordinary to happen.

Correct. More technically, aluminum diffusion alloying. If it was actual galvanizing, it would not weld worth a sh*t.

It was galvanized. It welds fine. Just doesn't look like a "classic" tig weld. No need to be too fancy, it's just a hood stack lol. I ceramic coated it and heat wrapped it as well. Thing is literally almost touching the a/c lines.
