Nothing major. Not puking or anything, I will just have the time to live without the 450 for a few days...

Head studs, valve springs and seats, push rods, and that 71mm that I got from Wil in january... Also, got a deep trans pan, and a DPC converter and some fresh fluid (finally, after 123,000 miles.... LOL) and filter. Then when I get back to FL I can schedule to get the GV Overdrive put on there... With any luck, my 250 will be screaming around Durham next week!

Sounds good man. I'm not sure about that gear vendors though. I've heard from numerous people that overdrive units ain't the best for heavy towing. (pretty much destroys them). I'm not sure how much you tow but something to think about.

I would love to do mine also BEFORE it blows a HG. I have 216000 kms (130000 miles) running the spartan 250 for half of that.

Wil Maloney tows heavier than anyone that I know. 27,500 goose neck, all across wyoming, and has no issues with his. I also plan on picking up a remanufactured unit, to carry as a spare, just in case... LOL it is only 25 pounds, and is barely over a foot long. I can prob change it out on side the highway in 30 minutes...

Yup, I ran the IDP Xstreet for 30,000, then the HOT DAMN H&S for 20, 000, and been in the Spartan 275 for about 25,000 now... No puking, but, I dont really race it... But I have been known to run it kinda hard.... LOL
Tow in direct. OD only for unloaded.

Chris. I was just going to text you about the OD to see if you were in fact going to use it. Maybe it needed a new home LOL

Yeah, I have been without it for long enough. Time to get better than 15 on the interstate.... LOL

I was under the impression that since power was still transmitted threw the unit that even locked out of over drive still caused damage to the unit itself.

As long as it is maintained, and properly lubed, you can tow in OD, while grossing 35 K. I will not likely be that heavy, but every now and again. But Ill be over 30 K quite often.

I gotcha. Well keep us updated on how it works for you. I may be interested in one for my f550.

I have been toying with the idea of a gear vendor or regearing. Neither will be done before DPC, just want lower rpm's on the freeway.

It will pull like a bastard. Just follow the pointers I gave you. You will love it!

11 Months later..... LOL And I am finally getting it installed.

For those that doubt the GV... This is Wil, and I dont know anyone who tows heavier with a 450, and uses a GV loaded with 36 k gross..... I think that this proves it's worthiness...

I think that it will work for me... And, even if it doesnt, that is why I am going to carry a spare... "two is one, and one is none"..... I live by this... two trucks, two bikes, two legs.... LOL

The guy that does all the fab work on my truck has a 900 hp fuel only compounded Cummins. We drove over 1200 miles round trip to the truck jam. He tows big enclosed car trailers and is always on the same tune that makes 900hp with his efi live. It works great. He has his set up so he manually engages the gear vendors with a switch, it doesn't engage automatically. Also call he company directly, they mentioned something to him about a high performance race application that would hold a bunch of power but was thought to be too harsh on the street.

I only run mine in manual mode. Auto mode is a fast way to burn them up in these big diesels.

Rivets are the new duct tape.
