alrigty thanks man

as far at the flex plate goes whats mike from MDP running a stock one til his just broke?

also any special tools need to work on the trans? i was a diesel mechanic, so i still have all my tools

I believe Mike had a stock one just from seeing the pictures a while back.

And there are a few tools that make things much easier - Slide hammer to pull the pump, band clamps for the pump, dowels for the pump, and a handle for the drum assemblies

could it be done with out them?

The only specialty tool I've needed was the piston compressor to remove and install the retaining snap rings to change pistons. For the pump I just bought two extra large worm clamps and put them together. It wasn't to hard removing the pump by hand with a little elbow grease.

Yeah its not bad doing it without the tools.

For the pump alignment dowels and band clamp I used a piece of round stock and a small ratchet strap.
I cut the round stock to iirc 8" or so.
And the ratchet is for lining up the 2 halves of the pump....think 2 quarters stacked on top of each other.

The hardest part I had was compressing the clutch pack piston spring to install the snap ring. There not overly stiff, just have to apply even pressure.

Just to clarify, what billet parts will I need, billet intermidiant and over drive planetarys, low reverse hub, and what about either the 4 it 5 pinion planetary.

Edit: what would be a good stall speed for a toque converter, truck is a dd, and i pull and drag race with it, but mostly pull

Billet intermediate and a billet input. You have a 5 pinion planetary if you decide to go billet but the low reverse hub and planetary aernt something I've seen fail like the intermediate and input.

The first thing I broke was a low reverse hub. First hook after my turbos. If your trucks a job one it my be a four pinion. What's the build date on your truck?

We use suncoast clutches, raybestos style. Billet input and intermediate for sure. But if you're drag racing it I would give a hard thought to the OD planetary. It takes a lot of abuse and I have seen them break on stock powered trucks. And as previously stated if you're truck pulling I would do the billet low/rev. Generally if you can afford it I would do all. And precision converters are the best way to go for sure. I've seen the suncoasts not hold up to big power. Never had a problem with precision. We do sell all the parts necessary if you need them.

What would be a good stall speed for a converter? Normal stall, 2000, or 2500?

It's a job one. 04/07 build I believe, are the 4 pinion planetary a weaker? If so is there any way or reason to upgrade to a 5

It's a different sun gear than a 5. mine is an 09/07 and it was a four pinion. I'm running an 1800 I believe I would have to ask Morgan to be 100% sure I was in a hurry to get it when my suncoast broke.

If you doing stock style compounds I would go 16-1800. If your doing a single or big non vgt compounds I would go higher.

4 pinion is fine once switched to billet. The cost to switch it to five and all the associated parts would be thousands of dollars. Would be better to just find a newer trans.

Its actually only 6-700 bucks. I did it to my truck. This trans is out of my 05
