How does that aux oil cooler work? My temps towing were about 230 while going up a slight grade with 8k this weekend.

Worst I've seen towing 15k in the summer was 252.

I'm pretty sure He has the MDP oil cooler relocation kit on his truck or a version of it. Moves the oiler cooler to the front of the truck instead of it being underneath.

There's nothing wrong with 203 oil temp. Thats a perfectly fine cruising temp.... too cool of oil can be just as damaging as too hot. I don't beat on my truck till oil is above 190

Cold oil will cause more bearing damage than hot oil... 160* is cold oil.

When a viscosity is selected for an engine the engineers then dictate a running range. Engine oils are tested at 212*F for a reason to determine optimal viscosity. Certain engines use a 40 weight oil but the oil is regulated at 140*F. Guess what. It's way thicker at 140 than 200. And that's by design to operate that way.

Your fine at 210.

So, you wouldn't worry about hitting 252 degrees? (Could never get it to go higher, almost as if that's the time it defuels). It was stock on 37s. 115degrees outside on a 7% grade.

252 is definitely terrible. Oil is breaking down well before that.

Really? What part of it is breaking down?

It won't catch on fire until 415* so your all good!!

252 is a little warm Jomax. But I would also like to know how you were truthfully driving it on a 7% grade also!!! Speed. Weight.... ect...

Im.still not worried at 250*. Let's talk when you get to 300* when the oil does start to molecularly bind.

Synthetic oils have passed tested at 300* for 100hrs or its junk fake crappy synthetic.

As long as you don't lose oil pressure your good.

I raced a old e46 BMW that regularly saw 250+... and then an 11 model 335i that could easily approach 275*.

My Harley has oil temp gauge, hits 280+. I've had lots of conversations on the subject, bottom line, it's OK.

Truck towing heavy never seen over 212 for the engine and 202 on the trans

I dump my CCV into the exhaust with no issue, no new oil leaks and I'm pretty sure they have gone down since the mod, no bad smells, no weird looks from people next to me cause it is dissipated very well.

Thumbs up from me
