I think that it's just the fact of he's backing it that much longer and the financial responsibility on his end gets higher

I don't see your angle here, Erik. Haven't you ever had a car salesman try to sell you an extended warranty? Sounds like the same principle here.

OK if you go the route of a car's sales man or the local electronics store when they offer an extended warantee, I decline it 8 days a week cause it is a money grab. You are lucky to ever have a problem and it fits into their small printing. That is why I question the same kind of logic.

To me it sounds like a much better deal for an extra 100 or so bucks. An exteneded car warranty is more of a money grab then a lifetime warranty for a torque converter in a 900hp torque monster.
