The plan is to take it down there Friday afternoon. Brian was more than helpful and said that he'd even help me on Saturday. I just hope he can get it fixed or replace it with a different one. Thanks for all the input.

Awesome

1,750 miles round trip and I've been back 3 times, maybe 4 over the last 8 years, so quit b!tchen and GTR done. :cursing:
Best trans out there and unmatched support. I even picked up another BTS trans for the 2000 tow rig.

I completely understand your complaint, I know how hard it would be to cough up 5k for anything, transmission or a whole vehicle, and to have issues would suck, and I'd be in your same boat.

But then again, I've also only ever heard positive about him and his parts.
I can completely understand the 500.00 fuel bill, to some they say quit complaining, and others like me know how hard it might be to come up with 500.00 for a fuel bill to fix a messed up tranny, but then again what else can you do.

Good luck, hope it turns out well for you.

I had the exact shifting issue when i installed mine.
I had a shop install the crated bts.
After hours on the phone with brian i told him i would bring it to him.
Along the way i stopped at groomzys house to pick up the 350 200 injectors.
Got to brians.
Went for a test drive.
Dropped pan.
He found that there was a tiny, i mean tiny like the size of a broken tip of a ice pick,
plug that on some builds needs to be removed, and others not.
I think he told me it depends on what hp level he tunes the trans for that deciphers if it is removed or not.
All in all i have no regrets except i dident do it sooner.
Take it to him.
You are close.
Shiz i drove 819 miles to take it to him one way.
He gave me his daughters red 6.0 to take to lunch too lol.

Leave the truck with him. That's the best solution.

X2 Not to side with Brian and not you but when you buy a "custom" part it's not like using OEM components to dial the truck in. One day is never enough time to get something dialed in right. some people spend DAYS to get something right. It's all part of the game, I've had to spend a few days on a few Cummins conversions with the PCS to get the customer happy. If you wanted it to be 100% and not have to change anything throw a OEM tans in it. Tuning can be adjusted quite a bit on many things and you might want to try and find a tuner who is doing many of these trucks. Gearhead is what comes to my mind with trans tuning.

sounds like Brian is doing everything in his power to do you right. I bought a BTS private sale and I was having a few issues with hot stalling in reverse and hes doing everything he can to get me right. Hell he was about to send me out a new TC(which is a pricey unit on its own) and a valve body to try if I cant get this thing going at no cost to me. just ship back my old stuff. he can be hard to get ahold of some times but hes customer service like said above is second to none.

I bought a bts at the beginning of the year through a vendor on the powerstroke forums. I told him my mods, etc... got trans shipped to work, I installed it along with a new 31 row cooler. Drove great for 2 months, then blew a trans line going down the freeway, ran it out of fluid. Long story short, I sold trans to a buddy, and it wouldnt hardly move his truck once installed, so we pulled it back out, loaded it in the back of another truck, and he drove it to arkansas. Brian got it apart and immediatley knew it was ran out fluid, and it somehow got built for stock power levels. He went ahead and rebuilt the whole thing, free of charge.I had a good experience with him, as did my buddy

I also had problems with my BTS. It was shipped to me I put it in. And like a dummy forgot to put a new cooler on or even attempt to clean the old one. I know I'm an idiot was just in too much of a hurry. The old cooler was full of metal from previous Trans. It completely ruined the BTS in a few hundred miles. I called Brian told him that I had messed up my brand new tranny and exactly what happened. I never even asked for a new Trans I was prepared to buy another one from him as this was my fault. He said send it back I'll send you another. All I paid was shipping. I also purchased a new 6.0 cooler kit for the new Trans. That in my book is going above and beyond for a customer. He will take care of you and you won't regret your purchase! A long story I know but just wanted the people who don't already know what kind of stand up guy Brian is. I'll be a customer for life.

Agree with Mike!! Hell i wish I lived 160 miles away from BTS!!! I bought mine 4 years ago and when Cale was up here last year, he noticed I broke a Sprag in my torque converter and he called his dad and told him, they had a new TC sent out to he next day to me, all I paid was shipping. That right there is customer service. Brian is the best at what he does for a reason

If 30 dollars worth of schaffers oil and a 320 mile round trip is gonna break you, you need a different hobby lol.

Sounds to me like Brian offered to do everything short of loading up his tools and working on it in your driveway. I don't really understand the complaint?

Brians customer service and knowledge is second to none. Take it back to him and he will take care of you.

:whs: This thread wasn't even needed

what they said^^^

Have you ever spent $5300 on something that doesn't work right and hinders your ability to get to places you need to be. If you have then you know my frustration, if not then you obviously don't. I guess the words above can be interpreted how every you'd like to. I just want everyone to be aware of the problems of potential problems that can happen. Like I said originally, I had trouble finding anyone or any information where people have had trouble. I understand mechanics and electronics enough to know that everything will fail eventually but having this many problems this early is borderline ridiculous.

most of us on here have spent that and then some

they are all built the same, only thing different is how the valve body is set mechanically to hold a certain power level...

chit!!! this reminds me, i need to call brian.... converter bolts came loose on me a few months ago and stripped one of the holes in the converter... called brian, he over nighted me a new converter and i sent him mine so it could get repaired... still waiting on them to bill me, do to it being my fault..... guess i better call them monday and see whats up....

and brian would give you the shirt off his back if need be....

BTS seems more like a religion. no hard facts as to what it is just faith that it is `the best`

And you seem like an ignorant fool.

BTS transmissions have the absolute top of the line hard parts and clutches, in every single one.

If you want an 800 horse transmission, you get those hard parts and clutches, with a valve body set for 800 horse.

If you want a transmission set for stock horsepower, with a lot of heavy towing, you get those hard parts and clutches, with a VB set for heaving towing at stock power.

What's so hard to understand about that?

Iirc, it was like $4,800 shipped, and it was SUPPOSED to be built beyond stock levels, somehow between this vendor and brian, the message was misinterpereted...

I also heard Brian only builds it one way. I guess I'm wrong in thinking he builds them different?

so you have had a BTS apart to see exactly what is in it or are you speaking from faith?
