I have read several places that pulling the cab is the best way to do head studs. Does anyone have a parts (gaskets) list of what is required just to pull the cab and re-install it? I am trying to see what the parts cost will be to pull?

Also i dont have a lift in my garage but was thinking i could use a couple skid loaders to lift the cab outside and then roll the truck back in the garage.

That's the list I used to give to the parts guy for a cab off.

As for the head sets just buy a valve grind set, there's a link in another post here.

Personally I blow the heads off the bolts with a torch if they've never been out before.

Lift the cab, and then you can heat the loctite/cage nut directly and turn the bolt remains out with vise grips.

After the first time, the bolts get slathered with anti-seize and come out gravy after that.

Thank you! What did these parts cost?

Also did you buy a stud and engine gasket kit from a site sponor or did you pick up the gaskets at your local dealer? Do you happen to have a list of engine gaskets and cost?

The body bolts you'll only need if you mess up your current cab bolts. DO NOT use an impact on them, ratchet only.

Why no impact? I used an impact just dont over tighten or whats the reasoning?

Ford claims not to use them because of the locktite on the bolts.

They claim that using an impact is what makes the nuts spin. I have had them spin either way, doesn't really seam to matter.

If you use a impact to take them out it'll most likely spin the nut in the "cage nut". After you get them out the first time you can wire wheel the loctite off and neversieze like hillbilly said, then use an impact to your liking.

Tree'd

But I'll add that the two I used the impact on ended up getting cut out. LOL

Thanks. I just impacted mine out and in to adjust my cab to get some seperation between the firewall and downpipe. Seemed to go ok but that would suck to have to cut them out

There is in the library...

But it doesnt have the cab bolts

Generally everything you need for a head job is about 600 bucks as far as parts, no fluids

I couldn't remember if I posted it here or not.

Handy to have, especially when you're trying to explain to the parts guy over the phone what you need. (Insert mad face here.)
