Thats nice, i thought they were a pretty nifty group(rave reviews between here and PSN) until i got a set for myself. If i wanted crap HID's, id get DDM. I bought retro's, and got DDM quality at Retro price. Just chinese made crap!

Exactly my experience. Absolute junk

I love my retro solutions kit, but i bought the digital 55w best of the best kit, they work great and have not had any issues (knock on wood) The wiring was much better than the cheap kit i had in the orange/white '06.

Thats what i had in my 2000, i hated it. I had 55w kits for both headlights and fogs.

Not sure what wiring you were looking at but mine was a disaster. Hated the look and how cheesey it was.

Next kit i buy, I will just build my own harness and make it look factory. I can't stand a cluttered up mess under the hood.

What did you use for your headlights? I'm curious about the low beam only kits, it gets dark out here and I don't have fogs.

Dave

When I get home I'll see if I can get a pic uploaded but it has Brillante on the label, the ballast is smaller than a CC and is 35W, 4300k and has hi/low. The bulb is pretty solid, ceramic base w/ the actuator inside to move the bulb to the high position and it puts the beam out a lot farther.
When I had the 55w in my F350 I rarely used the high beam as the low would still put light across both lanes in front of me, on the right shoulder, across the center median. IMHO, the thing I liked about the HID's is that it seemed to produce more USABLE light so that was a plus in my book.

The 55w HID does put out significantly more light than the 35w HID but the 35 HID in my bronco puts out more than the factory bulb.

yeh I've got the 55w digital for heads and had one ballast go on me in a year and of course warrenty denied . Have there next grade down on the fogs and had a ballast go after a month and of course warrenty denied on that and about every connection on the wiring harness pulled apart on it and I had to redo.If you have a ballast go bad just don't even bother sending it back. Just buy a new one and cut your losses. If not you will spend $7 bucks to have it shipped back and then warranty denied and have to buy a new one anyway so your out the $7 bucks and time spent in addition to buying your own ballast.

maybe find a better HID distributor? just because a kit is priced expensive doesnt make it good...

granted i have not tried a retro kit and never plan too. I run and sell bfxenon kits and havent had a problem. had a ballast go out after 2 years on my wifes edge... sent it in and they sent me a new one....

I've always had great luck with all of my stuff from retro... Service is awesome and the kits were great too. I have several friends that have their kits as well with no issues?

I think a lot of the issues with these kits are installer error

I have had issues with my fogs since day one. When you first start the truck and try to kick on the fog, only the driver side comes on. They had me buy a relay that would fix the issue but, it still has the issue but, if I wait a minute or so and turn them on, no issue. Now in the last 2 months or so, the driver headlight goes out randomly driving down the road. I can turn the lights off and back on and it will fire right up. My issue is that they are so awesome "when" they are working that I forget about having to wait to get the fog light to come on but, the light out issue is a bigger problem in my eyes.

Mine never failed me, dont get me wrong. I loved the light they threw, but the quality was junk. The wiring wasn't long enough to ground on the battery so i extended them, the ring terminals sucked, and just overall i felt like i could have found a much nicer kit for the money. Or at least built one. Light output was great and they always fired up.

Yes, grounds to the battery and I only use ddm

the vendor i got mine from came with half ass instructions, so i followed them the best i could, i used all the recommened hardware, addeed wiring harnesses and relays that dont come with the kit and you have to buy extra, the die electric grease, everything properly grounded, and all i have successfully done was purchased a $400+ dollar paper wait. i think most of what i paid went in to the high profile case it came in vs the product to be honest.

Aren't they supposed to have a lifetime warranty?

Yes they are but good luck getting them to ever warrenty anything. Myself as well as others have not been able to get a warranty. Both mine were refused for different reasons and no warranty. Others have had the same problem. There customer service is horrible once you have a problem. They had me do all these ohm tests to verify no wiring problem and then send the one ballast back to be tested and it was locked up. Locked up is automatic no warranty because they feel it was customer caused according to there warranty info page. Even though all my wiring tested fine according to them. Any reason they can to deny it.
