Planning on putting a suncoast ironpac 3 kit in my tranny over the next few weeks. Trying to diagnose tranny slip that Ive been having. While I do the rebuild I want to put atleast a billet input shaft in it. I know the first ones from suncoast were problematic and had problems. Which billet shaft should I get and where should I get it from?

Will the suncoast kit hold up to large turbos and fuel? I dont race/pull. Maybe one day Id hit the strip or something just for fun but mostly just a street truck. Is there anything really that more special about Elites competition rebuild kit vs the ironpac3 or whatever the HD kit is on rudys site?

Also whos got ironpac3s in stock just incase the guy from suncoast that my mechanic knows cant get me as good of a price as Im hoping.

Any other bits and pieces I should look into getting, not looking to do a crazy build. Just trying to diagnose this slip that Ive been having when my TC is locked since I put my RCD TC in. The tranny will get more billet/HD parts in the future.

Yea my mechanic mentioned it was probably a tcs shaft when I told him there wasnt a brand name on elites or the one on rudys site.... Is that this shaft? http://www.elitedieselengineering.com/product/13830001/Billet-Input-Shaft/

Or is it not on their site? Just wondering because the tcs site shows $360 and elites shows $235... If the two arent the same shafts whats the difference?

Any other bits and pieces I should look into? Is there a big difference between the ironpac3 and the elite comp kit?

I opted for the TCS xinput shat and comp kit all from Elite, heard to many horror stories about the standard billet shaft.

The link is not of the better input shaft.

Ok sounds good on the shaft, any input on if there is a real difference to opt for the ironpac3 or elite competition kit? Or is it just personal preference for most?

Honestly, I haven't heard of any trucks running that ironpac3 kit yet. All that I can say is that we have been having awesome luck with our comp kits. They are in several heavy hitting trucks... erik's, shone's, mal's, Jon walker's, godzilla, aaron's crew cab, Aaron had one in the drag truck too.

Elite offers a comp kit and an H/D kit.

The H/D kit is the same clutches that come in our Stage 1-3 trans kit.

The biggest difference between suncoast and EDE is most likely the clutch material.

We use Raybestos and Suncoast uses Alto.

Raybestos tends to use a thicker material friction and I have been pleased with the thicker materials. The thin stuff allows for more clutches but also doesn't last as long IMO.

I believe we offer the same clutch count as suncoast.

The comp kit gets more aggressive with the clutch material. These clutches are used in our Stage 4-5 kits.

The H/D input shaft is in stock, just give JD a call.

One other thing to add. Last I knew Suncoast just used Oem replacement Alto clutches for the intermediate. They do increase the quantity to 5.

We use the Raybestos Stage 1 (upgrade) material for the intermediate. We also do 5 clutches.

I have seen these clutches be an issue in 6.4 powered 5R's.

You've seen raybestos material be an issue? Ok so what's the difference in "stages" that elite has. Preferably between stage 3,4,5? Last i checked i didn't see these options on their site, just the standard rebuild and competition rebuild....

Alright i see the difference in stages in their complete tranny section, but not in their compnents section. If i were to buy their "competition rebuild kit" what "stage" clutches and components will I be receiving?

Ok so here's how our "stages" work.

Stage 1, 2, 3 all use the H/D clutches, we add billet parts as we go up.

Stage 1 trans is stock internals, upgraded clutches.

Stage 2 adds a billet input and low reverse hub.

Stage 3 adds billet planetary, and billet intermediate (full billet).

Stage 4 adds competition clutches and includes all billet insides.

Stage 5 adds some solenoid and pump work to the stage 4.

So, if you ordered the comp kit, you would get our competition clutches that we use in both stage 4 and 5.

I guess I should re word that. Stage 5 uses the same type clutches, however there are more. The stage 5 is only available as a built trans from us at this point, but there is no machining to the case. Only pistons and pressure plates are machined. They are machined in the stage 4 as well, however the kit comes with them.

On a side note our clutch kits do not include a transgo kit. They are seperate.

I knew something had to be machined. Good info JD!
