Oil temps

What kind of oil temps have people seeing in there 6.7, I know they typically are high in this truck due to the cooler location, I seen 223 towing horses up over a pass this weekend

Ive seen 240's in mine couple of times. Everyone says the oil wont break down till quite a bit hotter but seems hot to me.

I've seen a Max of 252. It will not go higher or the dash doesn't show it any higher.


This was with a 15k toyhauler towing up a 7% grade in 109degree heat at WOT. (Wanted to see what it would do when stock).

I'm just worried on where it's mounting on he bumper. Seems really easy to hit and then you loose all oil.

223 for Oil is not in the danger zone. I'd run an oil pressure gauge if you're worried about hurting the motor. If you only hit 223 while towing through a pass while on 37s I'd say you're doing just fine.

210 flogging the ass out of it this weekend out on the trails, and that's at 2am @ 87 degrees avg speed: 54mph.

Highest towing was 232 @ 6000ft towing 18k total at 70mph.

I see 240-245 pulling the fiver over 7+% grades.
Outside temp doesn't seem to change it much though from 60-105.

i seen 240 the other day when hauling in my 32 ft camper running 85mph and had to go up a steep hill, coolant temp also hit around 225 that when i dropped the speed on down to 75

yeah 240 or 252 I'd be slowing down. No point in running that hard. If you get it 250+ I'd be looking for a new oil cooler. IMHO

There's a reason most are limited to 65-75.
