Hello Ladies and Gents! I have been part of this community for a decent amount of time now but i have lurked in the shadows of the forums. I am by no means a diesel tech or claim to be knowledgeable about diesels so i wont chime in if i have any uncertainty. I had an idea I think many would get a little kick out of so here it goes.

I am going to Dyno the truck and make a few passes in it while its in the current state described below. I will then install the parts I have sitting on the shelf, redyno and make a few passes. The game is to guess what kind of power and times it will run before any changes and then post changes.

My current setup and drivetrain/valvetrain condition:
-1999 f-350 Super Duty Dually 2WD.
-210,000, regular engine oil changes, never replaced injectors, turbo, seals, truck has been nothing but great to me.
-with the above being said, I fail to be proud of the following statement:I never changed trans fluid since i owned it:eek:
*** I bought truck at 160,000 for a whopping $4000 from a close family friend, he took immaculate care of truck BUT without exact remembrance of previous trans flush I decided to leave it, any grime/shavings/whatever that is in the trans fluid is preventing the bands from slipping(anymore than they are?)It's on my transmission places list to get freshened/built when time allows***(Now I will continue with the game, sorry, I felt the need to justify)
-3 inch down pipe to 4 inch back(Installed at 80,000)
-k&n intake(Installed 165,000)
-TS performance for a late 99(Installed 190,000)
-Boost fooler
-wastegate has been adjusted and on the floor ~ 26psi
-The truck has not towed often when I've owned it, i doubt very much with previous owner as well (my Old man owns an 06 f-350 SD Dually, Its newer and towing with that compared to this is night and day so we use his primarily)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following upgrades will be added:
-Irates T4 kit
-S468fmw
-SRP1.1
-Homegrown Regulated return
-ARP head studs
-Water/meth(More of a homemade deal)
-4inch turbo back
-valvesprings and shims(if i can get them)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So to answer the burning question, testing will be done on stock sticks.

Pre/post Track Guesses as Follows
Stock/"75hp"/"100hp"/"140hp" tunes:
60' =
330' =
660' time =
660' speed =
1320' time =
1320' speed =

Pre/post Power Guesses as Follows
Stock/"50hp"/"75hp"/"100hp"/"140hp" tunes:
HP =
Torque =

I will probably do an extra lick of track and dyno on the "150hp" tune with water/meth after. Hard to guess when I don't even know what I'm going to be throwing at it. Once the trans is gone through I will probably redyno as I'm curious how much it slips on decent tunes.

This may be a few week process, I travel for drag racing AND my dyno guy's dyno is broken at the moment, once that is fixed we will be underway.

Timmy: I was there twice this year so far, once in may, and just a few weeks ago, I LOVE that track, the owners are great people. Its a homey kinda place. Its only a 6.5 hour drive not too bad. Plus, my other big block ford brotheren reside in KY. And thanks for the complement, definitely an oddball body choice.

Bruce: Going to college full time I don't have the funds for injectors right now. The stock ab's will stay in the truck probably until next year. The plan was something like 300/200's to 400/200's with some live tuning. Not trying to set the world on fire, just want to have some fun. I'd also like to get a wastegate or 2 on it and use a boost controller as well. I understand that can be simulated with some good tuning but they will aid in a smooth power transition through the r's. That's another $1200 but that's $1200 that will help keep it alive.....plus nitrous does not scare me one bit.:naughty:

Ordered dual fuel pump holder, once i get that in i can blast and get the fuel system housing finished for installation. Only running 1 pump for now, 2 stockers for when i purchase decent injectors

Heres the trailer we haul cross-country. I wish a company would figure out how to put the 6.0 brake package and 5r in a 7.3. I have a new Tekonsha in my truck but there is still no comparison. I've never riden in anything newer than the 06 but I'm sure its even better, ford really stepped up their game

50'er. It's funny pulling up to truck stops and are literally a few foot shorter than a rig.

With my old man's stock 6.0 once your up to speed you forget its behind you, until somebody pisses you off or you gotta stop. We normally roll anywhere between 70-80mph because that's where WE feel the truck has the best driving characteristics, any slower its "Laggy"

The 7.3 likes to be 60-70, and it takes a while longer to get it to speed, but i feel that building a decent trans will change those characteristics dramatically. It feels like its driving through the converter for forever. It stops pretty decent with the tenkonsha (hits the trailer brakes at 25% at the touch of the pedal, bit jerky) but the variable gain controller in the 6.0 trucks is something to behold.. smooth like poo.

No way I could put an srp1 on somethin pulling a trailer for a long distance, i would also sell the s468 and get somethin like a s364.5fmw or a basb and a set of 160/30-175-80. That is more than enough for a good tow rig.

I appreciate the input, but my truck is not the primary tow vehicle, it is(was) used for short 1-3 hour hikes IF the other truck is not available. I havn't had to tow with it for around a year. Probably tows 1,000 miles for every 20,000 put on the truck. We use it more for parts runs and whatnot. I have my Toyota Camry I bum around in(Decent 26-27mph mixed and tires are cheaper to replace). I drive the truck a few times a week, I'm just lookin to have some fun with it when I do drive it.

Besides, I'm using "Mileage Maintenance" as an excuse to upgrade and give it some lovin. :naughty:

BEST Pre Track as Follows
"140hp" tune:
60' =2.196
330' = 6.430
660' time =10.014
660' speed = 68.79mph
1320' time = 15.785
1320' speed = 84.62mph

5psi launch
od off
in drive

I am experiencing first hand the freshening of the trans can not be postponed. Very poor shift qualities and that's with basic performance mods.

Fuel station done:

I made it to fit inside of the framerail behind trans cross-member so it was out of the way.

As soon as I plan to work on it, it's supposed to rain out. Not playing those games, set up camp. I'd set up in the building but we have too much stuff:doh:
IMG_4004.jpg

whipped up a quick tool to remove tank cap, I was in rush and after i realized i should've welded the inside of the nut, I proceeded to call myself a dumba** as i cleaned some of the weld up off the side, still worked great.
IMG_4007.jpg

Pickup in tank done.
IMG_4006.jpg

Before it rained i was able to wire-wheel the rust off drivers side framerail for fresh undercoating. Due to rain I threw a light coat of quick drying cast iron paint on until i can continue.

Well here goes nothin. Before shot
IMG_4005.jpg

Set up a nice little workspace:
IMG_4031.jpg

I power washed this pig before the endeavor. After I got the inter-cooler plumbing and fuel bowl off I looked like I had inverse vitiligo, so I spent a few hours cleaning it again using a few more cans of degreaser spray, brake clean, a hose, and multiple rags. Pays off when your sweating and want to wipe your head with your forearm. Turbo and uppipes out.
IMG_4032.jpg

After get irritated with removing the old up pipes I cut one of the bolts out. I also cut a bit of the wheel liner out to get a better angle at the bolts.
IMG_4029.jpg

Fuel Tank is done, forgot to post this one before. Ended up changing the return line though, too bulky for tank, made a nice 45* bend and re-cut the line.
IMG_4028.jpg

Planning on going to fastenal to order some nice new hardware for everything. Plan of attack is HPOP, turbo pedistal, plenums, then making the fuel lines and mounting regulator.
