Hay there guys just want to hear from the guys that have their heads ported and see what they think. I ordered up a ported intake manifold the other day and am now thinking about going ahead with porting the heads to match the flow of the intake. I origianly planned on a simple build but i got to thinking about it and now I am going to go big. I just want to see what others have found with the head porting and see if anyone has any tips or suggestions for getting these done.

Wish I could help, but I did 3 mods at once...intake manny, 71, non-ported 6.0 exhaust manny (and up pipes). I think the intake manny helped based on descriptions of other trucks with similar builds, but obviously that is not an apples to apples comparison.

I have the Steed Speed Manifolds already but not the up pipes. My build date got pushed back now because I am going to do ALOT more to the build so I am not too worried about that right now. I am sending my heads out this coming Friday to be ported to match the flow of the Soot Powered Intake manifold. Soot Powered Performance is also the company that will be doing the porting on the heads.:D I am excited to see what kind of gains, EGT drops with be had from porting the heads. Air flow should be taken care of now with the Steed speed manifolds, 2.5'' up pipes, ported intake manifold, and ported cylinder heads.

Either some bigger turbos or fuel is next on the agenda. Its all getting done, just a matter of when. I am taking it one thing at a time and my build wont happen now till I have all the parts and peices.

Sounds like you have the air flow taken care of. My kind of build, don't leave anything behind. :clapping: Depending on your turbo choice, make sure your cai is up to par so not to suck the minder in constantly.

I am thinking about the upcoming setup from Elite. 59mm high pressure and 88 mm low pressure set up. Good for 1K with the right setup. Not entire sure yet as I have not heard much about this setup yet from anyone.

Eirk I will have a custom intake like you guys are all running so it should work I am thinking.

I am interested in seeing how that set up will work out. Big difference between the two turbos, hope there isn't a flat spot where the 59 may have a problem supplying enough air for the 88. I would be more confident with a 62mm. I could be wrong, but not sure if these have been on a truck yet to test.

Ya I do not know myself. I was wondering the same thing about the flat spot where the 59 may not flow enough. Time will tell I guess as I have a little bit of time to decied what I want to do. If anyone hears anything with testing on these, chime in please and let us know how these are working out.

Personally I was going to take my 76mm off and replace it with the 88mm to get my egts down under wot, but things changed. Mine spools instantly with the 62, so I tend to think a 59 may be a bit small. But then again I don't know a lot about turbos, and I am guessing. I think the 62 would make more power and drivability would be great.

I doubt you will see any power difference going from a 59mm to a 62mm secondary
. The secondary doesn't really add power in a set of twins. Just for reference, theres a few dodge guys running 59mm/95mm set ups, so I'm sure the way Elite has them spec'd will be adequate.

I am going to drive the truck all the time and just have fun with it so I want the thing to be driveable and not have spool up issues. Also my wife drives the truck too and I want her to be able to hop in the truck and go.

You know Tadd is spot on when he develops a kit. Hell, look at the list of chit on my truck and you can tell where my loyalty stands. My results speak for them selves, but there are more to it than just turbo similarities. I don't think you can compare a Ford and a Dodge in terms of flow etc when running sized same secondaries.

I would say you can to an extent. The exhaust sizing may change, but if anything for us, it'd go smaller considering we have a harder time spooling turbos. I have faith Tadd's 59/88 set up will work, and I think it is a great addition to the market.

I'm really excited to see the results of this build. Are you going to be doing this build in steps...start with the ported intake, valvetrain, exhaust manny, and up pipes. Later do the turbos and even later doing to the fuel?

Do it all at once, unless you are doing it yourself then the $$amt doesn't matter as much.

That makes sense and the way I did it (although not nearly as big of a build), I was just hoping to see what each mod did for performance.

I am going to have everything done at once is the plan. It would be nice to do it step by step to see what each mod does, but just not smart to do it that way as the cab would have to come on and off several times.

I agree. I want to so a 60 with an 82-88 when I build my cummins. Good bottom end plenty of air up top.
