I've got a 2001 dually that has a bad front wheel bearing. I decided to do both of them since they are original. I purchased the hub assembly/wheel bearing from Rock auto for a good price. I called the dealer to see if there were any other seals/ parts to change and they mentioned a few that I didn't see on any of the youtube videos. It doesn't look like that bad of a job but these seals got me worried as they ay need a special tool to install. They are telling me there's a seal in the knuckle when you remove the hub which is 63.67 from the dealer. Also there is some dust seal on the outside that's 28.75. They won't give me the part numbers to them so I can't see if there are any aftermarket parts. I like to do a thorough job so I figured the seals should be done. Anyone know the process of doing these two seals? I'm not talking about the yellow oring either, Any special tools needed?

Looks to me like it's the big seal he's talking about in the kit you sent me. Don't think that kit will work with mine as it's starts at 2005.

There is an o-ring that is installed on the unit bearing. F81Z 4A322 AA

You will not need to replace the outer axle seal ("knuckle seal") or axle tube dust seal, provided they are not compromised, as unit bearing replacement does not require the removal of the axle shafts.

Dust Seal: FORD F81Z 1S175 HCA, NATIONAL 710413
Outer Axle: FORD F81Z 3254 CB, SKF 28600

I will revise my answer, now with 110% moar reading comprehension.

You will need a seal driver to install the outer axle seal. Many opt to improvise with a 2" pipe nipple and flange, but the purpose built driver is the better option. For years, I improvised but recently found a OTC driver on Amazon Warehouse deals. It is much easier and faster to seat the seal and install in the knuckle. I wish I had ponied up for the "right tool for the right job" years ago. Buy once, cry once.

OTC 6695 is for 99-04. Lisle also makes a slightly expensive version.

I also recommend using the aftemarket part numbers I provided above. Pricing is much more favorable than the Motorcraft boxed seals.
