Yesterday I took my truck into the dealership to have them look at a small exhaust leak that I noticed. Wasn't anything serious just saw some soot on a bolt where the up-pipe connects to the manifold on the drivers side. I could hear it every once in awhile, so I figured Id just see if they would fix it under warranty. The mechanic had the idling while he made sure where the leak was. He finished with that and I was heading over to the service manager to set up an appt, when I heard the truck shut down. I didn't think the mechanic was close enough to kill it, but I just assumed he did. I finished talking to them and making an appointment, went to leave and the truck just cranked and cranked. Pulled the codes and had low rail pressure, regulator circuit low, plus a number of others. We hooked up they're comp to it, diagnosed for almost an hour before we found the wire harness to the HPFP shorted out. Apparently there is a TSB for the job 1&2 08s, but not for the later ones, let alone a 2010. So, we pushed it in the shop far enough to get the door closed. Called them today so see how it was coming, and Ford told them to replace the harness AND the HPFP. I guess theyre getting all the parts tomorrow and will have it back to me Friday. The best part is warranty is covering the whole thing, even though I did not take anything off or put anything back on the truck! So today I give them a huge:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I know I was very surprised. I'm just lucky the Damn thing died while sitting in the ford shop not a couple hours from home.

IF it's warranty work, Ford techs, at least up here keep the part.

Great to hear you didn't get stranded and its all being taken care of.

Called the dealership yesterday to see if it was going to be done and I guess those harnesses are in high demand. The are on national backorder and might not be available until next Monday. That would be fine because they gave me a pimpin 96 windstar to drive, but the diesel night I've been working on for 6 months is Friday!! I guess ya win some ya lose some.

There on back order for us to. Like no set date out. It's a bummer for the customers
