And I don't want a ton of bump. This 8" suits me just fine. I can turn the radio up as loud as that sub will handle(and its loud) and you cant hear it from outside the truck(with it running). A friend rode and my truck and she described it as "classy"

LOL. Mine turned out exactly how I wanted. I'm not a big sub guy and never would have put a sub in my truck if my cousin didn't give me that sub and my brother the amp. I already had the MDF, fabric etc... for the box so I said what the hell.

Looks good Goose!! I like how you got the amp packaged into the box, nice neat job!

You could easily fit a 10" or 12" sub in there...looks good though.

Yes and no, there is plenty of height but depth is limited and fades fast as you get bigger on the sub. You'll rule out 75% of the 10's available on the market and limit yourself to pretty much only shallow mount 12's

This picture is actually a bit deeper than an 04+ truck will fit as the top really can only be about 3" and not 4" and top depth plays a big role on how much depth you can get away with, plus leaving room for the sub to play freely and some for the pole vent if it has one.

Very nice!!!

Now that you went through all that work its time to pop out the crappy stockers and install some nice speakers in there so you can get some life in your music

What do you recommend that's not too expensive?

Thanks man. I wanted to be able to still have 100% use of my back seat area(I have two labs). I will snap some pics of it installed.

I forget the depth of that speaker, but I want to say it was not greater than 6". I'm pretty sure I could fit a newer, larger shallow mount speaker in there, but I am going to stay with an 8". Like I said, Classy LOL

No amp on the floor and still have space behind the smaller seat.

You Stay Classy, Alabama! *in my best Ron Burgandy voice* LOL

Definitely a good use of the space, always nice to get the stereo in there and not even know its there.

Umm, I wish I could give you a simple answer but its just not part of my nature, if you want to PM me I will gladly walk you through making an informed decision. Biggest thing to know is budget and overall goals, from there I could overwhelm you with products and information LOL

but as a shot in the dark these are some I would look into for "budget" speakers.

Alpine Type-R components $190, http://www.woofersetc.com/p-5240-spr-17s-alpine-65-2-way-component-speaker-system.aspx

If you can spring the little extra I would definitely go for these over the R's though, http://www.woofersetc.com/p-5812-spx-17ref-alpine-65-type-x-series-component-set.aspx

Entry Level Focals for around $250, http://www.woofersetc.com/p-3372-165a1-focal-access-65-2-way-component-speakers.aspx

I think they have been redesigned slightly, but when these were introduced a couple years back they were compared regularly to $500 sets, but only cost $99, http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7929-rsd6cs-phoenix-gold-6-component-speaker-system.aspx

If your looking for even cheaper, and don't really plan on ever adding an amplifier except maybe a subwoofer but thats all, then I would most likely stick with some simple coaxials and save yourself $100-200

Infinity 6.5" coaxials $65, http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8274-60...0-watt-reference-series-coaxial-speakers.aspx

Pioneer 6.5" Coaxials $95, http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6389-ts-d1602r-pioneer-6-12-260w-2-way-coaxial-speakers.aspx

Looks good Goose, that should help cut down some road noise, and it shouldn't collect much moisture with how you have it installed.

Stay tuned shortly. Im hoping to do a full Sundown audio build to rep for my vendor status with them. I might actaully make this one look good lol.

Me like the sounds of this!!

Pulling out the rear seat in the crew cab and walling it off, or a blow through maybe??? 6 15" Nightshades and a trio of 3500D's I hear :naughty: :poke:

If you're talking about me, i dont have a crew cab. I wish lol.

If you are talking about you, i would get 2 NS-1 amps, and do 4 18" Walled, tuned to 33hz with a Mechman 270 amp alty, and a decent battery bank on the frame rail. :demon:

I thought you had just picked up a crew cab OBS?

That would be pretty sweet!! Back before the NS amps and when I had the back end of the truck stripped for the amp rack a took a couple measurements and drew up some CAD sketches for making a clamshell like wall in the back with 3 or 4 3000D's as the center console.
