Ok, I went for a short drive, killed the truck and now I'm having cranking times of about 4 seconds. Any ideas? And both KOEO and KOER tests show the IDM failure code. WTF?

The truck died again, or did you shut it off?

I can't really tell over the noise of cranking.

You can hear it really well if you put your head under the dash or just key on and jump power to starter wire under hood. Typewriter type noise... this sounds like a ICP issue...

How's the nut on your IPR

I turned the truck off. I've tried it 4 times with the same long cranking time. I've plugged the truck in for the night and will try again tomorrow.

Miles on injectors? I know bad injectors will have a hard start when cold.

Over 100,000. Buzz test sounds fine. I have my 400/200's back, so I need to find a good shop to have them installed.

The hard start cold from worn injectors won't show up in a buzz test.

I do know batteries do wacky things on These trucks. Also alternators, I'd check your alternator.

How wont it? If they buzz weak, then bo actuation. ...

I've had 2 trucks not show up in a buzz test. They buzzed just fine. But had a hard start cold. Once the trucks were warm, it would start no problem.

But, I don't work on these every day, so I could be wrong.

Well you can have fuel side wear and oil side(solenoid) wear. ..

If they buzz strong, loud clapping sound, solenoids are good to go. If they buzz weak, their worn out and require alot of heat to fire off... I usually do up to 30 buzz tests in a row just to get a truck started in the lot.

Fuel side wear usually consists of smoking and very intermittent hitting of cylinders when cranking. Also when it finally does fire, no throttle.

It would be a hot restart. Restarting within 15 minutes of NOT.

If you're having a hot restart problem, monitor icp before it starts to see how it's building pressure.

If it builds slow you probably have a injector dumping oil. If it climbs quick then I would look for a fuel delivery issue.

Is it still failing number 1 on cct?

Ah, makes sense, so the trucks I've been talking about is fuel side wear, correct?

not necessarily.. my 01 buzzes inconsistently. as in you can do 5 buzz tests in a row and the weak sound moves to a different injector each time.. plug the block heater in for a couple hrs and it fires like there was never an issue.

live life full throttle

god bless america and the farmer who feeds your fat ass

Tin nut on the IPR is fine. A touch of loctite keeps it on snugly.

I would be watching ICP for sure.
I'm pretty sure it crapped the bed for good today. Funny thing is that I had the truck towed to a shop today and the mechanic couldn't get his scan tool to connect and I couldn't get mine to connect, either. All of the sudden, his connected. Showed less than 100 psi when cranking, so we'll start with the ICP sensor, that I was on my way to the store to buy when the truck died. Ha!
