Well its been a year since I took mine off. Maybe with that many more out there. Someone might have an idea what my previous issue was.

I am going to be adding some more power shortly and will need the gate back on to control backpressure

Issue was. Get the gate set up. Max backpressure where I wanted it. No problem. Roll into the throttle, no problem. Boosted launch, no problem. Everything was working perfect.

Driving at lets say 40mph. Hit the throttle to pass someone, Truck would only build around 25-30psi boost, smoke like a frieght train, and not get out of its own way. Same thing if you were doing a burnout/ drift. Lift off the throttle for a second and it would fall on its face when you got back on it.

The best idea I could come up with was the backpressure was blowing the gate open before the boost came up to hold it closed.

This was pre 71mm low pressure.

Originally had the gate full boost to the bottom, regulated to the top.

Then full boost to the top, regulated to the bottom

Then full boost to the top, vent to the bottom just to try an keep the damn thing closed.

Same issue every time.

Checked the springs, I believe they were 27lb? or whatever the strongest ones were, I forget now. Checked the diaphragm. Verifield the gate opened and closed right. And it is a percision gate straight from Elite.

Never figured out the issue.

Just out of curiosity did you use the wrong port on the regulator? I did that once and had very similar symptoms. Also what's the rated outlet psi on your regulator? There are some that are only good to 30psi output.

Im assuming its elites factory regulator. Im going to be following shanes instruction and regulating boost to the top port. All others closed off. I have full boost going there now so the gate wont open. I bought an mvr44 though because the precision took a dump. See how it works shortly

Ryan you could also just add regulated boost to the bottom port and add or subtract regulated boost to reach desired bp #'s, while leaving full boost to the top of course.

It was the one that came from elite, so I am not too sure. Tested it though. And it was working right up to 60psi that I checked it to. Last thing I did was full boost to the top of the gate straight off the intake elbow with no regulator and it did not help the issue.

And the gate did have those rings in it when I took it apart. The ones that go inside the edge where the v bands are. Forget the exact name.

Full boost to the top and it didn't stay shut? Something's not right with the gate. I trust that you had the valve seat in which points to a bad diaphragm or something. Do you have access to another gate to try out?

ive had the valve score and stick open or shut on precisions before. it happened on my dodge a few times. you can send the gate to precision and have them go through it. or even better I would get a tial 44. Also like shane said check that the valve seat is in correctly.

Valve seat is what I was trying to figure out before. And yes it was in correctly. To check the gate I Applied air pressure enough to see it open (around 30 psi). I then did a leak test on the top and bottom to check the diaphragm. Did not have any leak down. And the gate seemed to open and close smoothly.

I guess I pretty much plan on getting the Tial gate, Just figured I would give my percision paper wieght another chance...

Thats how i had mine before. I dont see a reason to do this anymore. The way shane does it is less lines. The way i look at it is theres give or take about 25 lbs of spring pressure in it now. So at a little over 25 it will start to open. By adding boost to the top i now equalize the pressures therefore holding it closed. By dialing boost back on top i am offsetting the pressures. Basically ill need 30 to 35 psi to the top for the gate to open around the desired bp. Atleast in theory
