you need a repair manual, that will at least give you torque specs and tightening sequences, which is the main reason I buy haynes manuals

I got the engine set back in today. I had to move a little bit of snow with the tractor before I could get to the pickup to drop the engine in it. Now I just need a good day So i can put the front end back together, and wait for a transmission spacer to get here so i can put the transmission back in. I should have it all together if we have no calving trouble tomorrow. Well all of it but the transmission.

It lives!!!!! Cranked for a total of about 6 to 7 seconds and it fired right up!!! Sounds good without that knock!! Now time for some tuning!

If it not one thing it another. Funny thing is it ran for about 6 minutes no problem. I shut it off started it back up ran good did this a couple of times no problem. Let it sit for about 30 minutes and started it back up ran for about 5 to 6 seconds and it shut off, and would not restart. Checked the HPOP reservoir and it was dry! Filled it up and it started right back up ran for about 6 seconds again. after trying this a couple more times I quit and pulled the LPOP and changed it out with another one I had laying around and still no go. same old thing. starts and runs for 6 seconds then it dies. I might have to change the front cover. it has a little bit of scoring on a 1/4 of the surface.
I will try a couple more things on Monday, to see if that is it. I hope the oil pickup did not crack!! Might jack the back off the ground and see what happens.

And thats why i welded my pick-up. Only way its gonna crack is if a rod goes down through the crank and takes it out. LOL

I hear you there! I think it is the LPOP. I put a used one in but still the same thing. I am going to put a melling in there and see what that does. Right now i have no desire to pull the engine back out! The front cover has very light scoring marks for about a 1/4 of the way around the crank. not sure yet if that is what is keeping it from pumping. So I am picking up a melling pump. And if that does not cut it. I am going to jack the pickup up to "flood" the oil pup with oil and see if it works than. To bad the front cover cant be changed with the engine in the pickup!!!

No that would not be what is wrong here. I never pulled a plug on the rail.

All i need is a new front cover and oil pump. then I am good to go. Bought the oil pump but still looking for a front cover.
