Side skirt of passengers side front bucket seat. Scuffed with red scotchbrite pad. Wiped with wax and grease remover. Adhesion promoter. Flat black. Then matte clear.

Overhead console/trip computer

I used duplicolor which isnt the best but colorbond wasnt giving me a few answers i wanted clearly. Ill probably have a few areas that will require touching up after regukar use but thats no big deal to me. My rubber, molded armrests on the door panels took the color just fine but the clear got gummy on two of them. So ill cover them later.

Some more pieces. I ditched the black leather covers with tan inserts and got some samples and began choosing new leather. Boy that was a process. I went from solid black to red to brown and every combo of seat, insert, and stitching in between. Truly arduous and i see why many leather kits appear plain as its easy to get wild quick.

I planned to swap in a 6l dash and hvac controls but i realized the scratches on my dash would be invisible after the dye job. So I decided to go for the cleaner 6l bezel but didnt want the heavily woodgrained ones. So i tried to find a plain black one but peoole wanted 150$ + for scratched up junk that was tossed in a corner of their shop. Thanks, no thanks.

Original 2000 console disassembled, scrubbed with blue dawn, scuffed with red scotchbrite pad, two coats of adhesion promoter, two coats of flat black, one coat of gloss black on the lid. I did scuff, degrease, and dye the clip on the lid too as mine was grey from 15 years of orange pumice and paint thinner hands pushing on it. Used the gloss black, and then a matte clear over it.

I wanted contrast in some pieces and I thought the textural difference between flat black vs gloss black would be enough. It wasnt and looked weird so i hit everything with matte clear. You can see the difference

Dash was disassembled, cleaned, and done in flat black. The bezel was done with different products. Its not the duplicolor interior line. Its automotive primer over adhesion promoter, then black paint, whet sanded until the grain was gone. Then four whet sanded coats of clear. Hand polished with pol compound. I dont love it but it looks way nicer than the photos lend it. Its piano black in look.

After some thinking and looking at what was available i decided buying black carpet and the 300$ worth of molded rubber floormats to cover up the precious carpet was stupid. I ordered a molded, black, vinyl floor.

I didnt take any pictures just out of forgetfulness but the whole inside of the cab was kleen, rustblasted, and rust stopped. Kbs coatings. Dries to a glass like black finish. No echo or ping to the panels after it dried. To keep inlibe with overkill i dynamatted the whole cab. From floor to ceiling, then jute the whole floor, then trimmed my new vinyl to fit. I dont regret skipping the carpet at all.

I was stuck on choosing leather so about three weeks ago i finally just took all my ideas and condensed them and called in my choice of colors for covers.

Quarter hide of my baseleather so I can fab/wrap any pieces i feel need accented. Door panel elbow rests for sure. And the hard molded console lid will get some leather with double stitch seems, probably 3 panels with two seams. Maybe some contrasting detail.

And some pictures of the leather itself. The pictures where the sun is washing over it such as the one with the green carpet on my shop floor, is the true color in person. The camera for whatever reason makes it appear very light. Theres a picture of the bench seat cover on a sofa and that is how it looks when i see it with my eyes. You'll notice the difference in color in pictures.

First seat wrapped..the wrinkles have settled but the bunching near the headrest is still about half there. I need to loosen the connections, split the fastener where the wrinkles are and steam it a bit. No biggie. Looks worse with a flash hitting it.

Thats it for now...i need to put a dbl din touch/nav/bltth headunit in and hopefully my black leather/wood steering wheel comes in soon. I ordered one with thumbrests at 3 and 9 oclock like the newer fords have. I also need new black or brown seatbelts to call the inside truly done. But as stated, I have plans to wrap a bunch pieces in the cordoba leather.

Thank you. Been chaotic. I work nights luckily. I come home, sleep for a while and then get up and work on this truck.

I had a frame on jackstands, with suspension and motor, in March. Then i stripped it down, painted the frame with a chassis saver setup. Two different ones to be exact. To see what lasts longer. Went and got new body parts. I git the suspension back on in April but had to wait on some ubilts that were made incorrectly. I had a good plan on how to get all this done and it was sailing along great until about three different parts were wrong.

I have some work to do left under the hood and im waiting on the got dam transmission still and then im ready to rip. Put four new Moog sway bar links on it last night.

Details on this? I was driving my truck the other day after driving my wife's Highlander and thought to myself this steering wheel is missing those thumb rests...
