question is on the EDE wastegate.
With the spartan 150 tune. My wastegate was set up regulated boost to the bottom, vent to the top. Worked perfect.
When I went to the 250 tune. It would only make 22psi boost. I switched it to full boost to the bottom and regulated to the top. Worked perfect. Was almost a 1-1 ratio right up to 43 psi boost. The best the truck has ever ran.
Now that I have some miles on the truck since the motor was out, I went to the 310. Runs fine up to about 3/4 throttle. The wastegate is opening to early even with the regulator wide open. Its making 40 psi boost with heavy smoke.
Where do I go from here? I don't want to mess up how the 250 tune runs since that is my towing tune and I need to run that 7-8 months out of the year. There are many weekends that I would like to run the 310 and maybe a few truck pulls coming up.Then for the other 4-5 months out of the year. Am I better off with a electronic boost controller? With a electronic boost controller can I just change settings to exactly what I want in cab and let it do its thing? I want the wastegate doing its job all the time, not just at full throttle. Just like how it works with the 250 tune right now. Would the electronic controller make it work right on every tune without changing the lines around?
I asked the same question at the nation and was hoping to get a little more help here. I guess I for the most part need to know what to do to get it to run right on the 310. I want to hit a few truck pulls coming up soon. Not sure if I need a stronger spring in the wastegate or if I should switch it to full boost top, regulated to the bottom? Also if anyone is running a electronic controller, I am very interested to see how you like it.
