I wouldnt say its a waste of money compared to a drop in charger..... Its apples to oranges... Obviously a stock 64mm charger with a batmo isnt going to out perform a 71mm billet, ball bearing turbo. Its just not going to happen. But for someone who doesnt want to drop 1300 on a new turbo it may be a good option for them. And I wasnt under the impression that a drop in batmowheel, for an already billet wheeled, ball bearing turbo would out perform it, nor did I know that was the word going around. The only thing I would ever change up if I had a garrett or precision is maybe put the GTX wheel in it, but even then its a lot of money and is it really worth the gains? And what exactly makes it an EDE wheel? Isnt it just a precision wheel?

Like its been shown. Youre probably going to get most of the gain you can out of a high end turbo the way it comes. Obv the engineers made the billet wheel thats in it stock to flow the best for that kind of turbo, or else why would they be making that performance product. Thats why you pay way more for a precision or garrett ball bearing than a bullseye journal bearing with a cast wheel. Why people would tear into a nice turbo and put a batmo in it is beyond me.... Not sticking up for the batmowheels because I dont really have a preference, I prefer ball bearing chargers, and would rather save and spend the extra money on them. But a somewhat cheap upgrade for the average joe who drives his truck around town and doesnt know any better, it may not be a bad choice as a drop in. You have to figure, honestly, how many regulars get on this 6.4 section or any forum and mod these trucks compared to how many people just buy these trucks to just have a truck.

I wish I could've gotten my hands on a Precision wheels to replace my K31 and cast vgt. I am very pleased with my Bats though. They really made my truck come alive.

Tadd has the wheel made by precision.

For reference, the 71 and 72 are both journal bearing.

Here's what my engine bay looks like for those who Are curious.

Wayne have a weak hpfp or what - he seems to be 40hp down?

It would only maintain 20xxx psi where as when I ran it to 55x with the tow power atmosphere turbo it held at 23xxx with 24650 commanded. All tests so far have been running innovative extreme race. Rail psi plays a huge role in power as you can see with the power drop following rail pressure.

I'll probably fill in any remaining test gaps for info we want when I have the truck back together. It'll probably be 3 weeks or so, but I about have all the parts saved up for twin pumps, 60 hp nozzles, 6.0 manifolds, HD up pipes, and wastegate kit with 4" downpipe. We'll get a new baseline with stock turbos, and go from there. Hopefully I'll have some better tunes by then too.

Fwiw, even the stock atmosphere turbo pushes over 30 psi on a big tune, and the more aggressive turbos make over 35 with about 48 psi total, just so you can see how much of the work the atmosphere turbo does.

Not quite lol.

On the bright side though, I pulled the turbos apart and fixed my exhaust leak today. The truck is snappier and pulls noticeably harder. The tires light up at a higher speed than they used to... And the best part is, smoke is down even from the 71.

Fixed an exhaust leak that you have had even during the testing?

just bought a set of batmos for stock chargers for when i get my studs done. obviously im not looking for huge power gains. this thread makes me wanna dyno before and after i install the batmos prior to doing studs NOW just to get accurate results. as mentioned by others i dont expect too much... just better spool, cleanup exhaust and maybe lower egts. no one has indicated needing a wastegate and thats a big plus too.

Just for clarification all test were done with 71mm batmo wheels.. Aaron already tested the drop in batmo months back... No need to beat that dead horse.

the wheels are made by precision for.elites turbos. Its no secrete they have been.journal bearing since day 1

I know he ment 71mm batmos. But when he says that drop in batmos for stock turbos is a waste of money... It isnt necessarily true.

I forgot that these smaller kits and atmospheres were modified stock turbos with larger compressors. And im still a little confused at to why people were taking elites/precisions already billet wheel and spending the money to remove it for another one :p . I wouldnt of expected much difference, and im glad someone tested it. I could understand bullseye making a replacement "upgrade" if it was for a plane jane cast wheel in the turbo, but I dont see why they would do it since the exsisting is already billet.

But... anyway...its got to be worth the money because it looks cool :fustrate:

Your tow power atmospheres are jounal bearing precision turbos with "custom" wheels also made by precision?

It's a stock atmospheric charger that has been machined and modified. It is then equipped with a billet 71mm wheel by Precision Turbo.

EDIT - Dustin already pointed that out.

Capt !! Yes you should i thought about it but gaskets were to far gone to be playing around , Let us know , As i spent alot of money on parts ,and did the drop in batmos for HP/LP stock turbos , I guess my mind was never made up , but wish i had a couple extra bucks ( 1500 or more) then i would do the turbo/s insteed of the batmos , i had no labor charge for install as i did this my self , i do see the cost if you installed batmos at a shop , the cost of labor and parts puts you in the range of a 71mm !!! So thought for half the cost it was worth the couple xtra HP

I think this was mostly from people buying industrial's turbos, and dropping this wheel in place, not so much buying elites and taking the precision out, although i think someone wanted to awhile back.

JD's truck and Mike Corsilli's truck have both made around 700 on stock fuel. I can't see there being much more than that on tap.

My green truck did 723 on stock everything with high powers. On hallers Dyno.
